Hard hit economically by the Covid-19 pandemic, the African continent is back on the growth track. After an unprecedented contraction in 2020, activity in sub-Saharan Africa should grow by 3.7% in 2021, then 3.8% in 2022, according to forecasts by the International Monetary Fund. This will be driven by higher commodity prices, notably oil, but also by an upturn in world trade. A welcome but still uneven rebound, as Africa does not have the same financial capacity as other continents to support its businesses, safeguard jobs and populations, and access vaccines.

What are the new ways of accelerating the continent's development and industrialization, and what contribution can companies investing in Africa make? How can we better structure and finance innovation ecosystems to take advantage of disruptive technologies, the digital boom and fintech ? Are new cities the answer to the challenge of urbanization? What role can France and Europe play alongside Africa in their renewed partnership? After COP 26, how can we accelerate the ecological transition?

After a successful first edition, the French Council of Investors in Africa (CIAN) and l'Opinion are once again joining forces to defend an ambitious, positive and dynamic vision of a continent with many assets, including its youth. We look forward to seeing you in 2022 with a new version of the Africa Forum in two phases, with an online conference on March 10 and a physical event in Paris on June 23. And don't forget CIAN's traditional annual report, to be published in March 2022 in l'Opinion's Hors-Série Afrique.
